In 1986 Foundation Amigos de la Naturaleza (Friends of Nature) was formed
In 1988 Ecuador declared the Mindo-Nambillo Protected Forest protecting 19,220 hectares (47,437.4 acres) of primary cloud forest
In 1990 Foundation Pacaso & Pacaso was formed to help provide a sustainable, alternative economy to Mindo and the community
Since 1995 we have participated in the annual Christmas Bird Count. Mindo and the surrounding area has won the gold medal (most species counted in a 24 hour period in a 25km circumference) 4 times. In 2000 with 349 species registered, in 2006 with 417 species and 2007 with 425 species registered and 2008 with 420 species registered.
In 2000 we participated in protest against the heavy crude oil pipeline (OCP) in defense of the environment.
We are naturalist guides licensed by the Ministries of the Environment and Tourism.
In January 2008 we built an attraction for adventure tourism that permits us to be more in contact with nature without damaging it. This activity is for all kinds of people. Mindo Ziplines Tour Cia. Ltda.
